Triple
Vehicle OBE to Connected Vehicle Roadside Equipment: vehicle ID
Flow Description
It contains the ID of the vehicle, sent by the on-board electronics, to facilitate probe data collection and other activities. In some jurisdictions IDs are used for enforcement, reservations/booking, and floating car (probe/situation data collection) applications. If used to support enforcement, it must be unambiguous and traceable to vehicle registration, etc. If used to support travel time calculation and other floating car measures, then the ID must be uniquely tied to the vehicle for the duration of the calculation, but it could be anonymous.
Solution Description
This solution is used within the E.U., and Australia. It combines standards associated with EU: CA Service with those for V-X: BTP/GeoNetworking/G5. The EU: CA Service standards include upper-layer standards required to implement V2x safety situation awareness information flows. The V-X: BTP/GeoNetworking/G5 standards include lower-layer standards that support broadcast, near constant, low latency vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications using the ETSI GeoNetworking Bundle over the 5.9GHz spectrum.
