Triple
Vehicle OBE to Other Vehicle OBEs: vehicle hazard event
Flow Description
Notification of a potential hazard that is detected by the vehicle, including hazards posed by the vehicle itself. Self-reported hazards include notification that the vehicle is being operated in an unsafe manner or is stopped in the travel lanes or on the shoulder. Detected hazards include unequipped vehicles operating unsafely, traffic queues, and foreign objects (people, animals, debris, other obstacles) in the travel lanes. It includes vehicle location and status, path, current control actions, and additional information on the detected hazard, if applicable. This specifically includes vehicles making excessive lane changes or speed, maintaining less than minimum headways, and wrong way vehicles. For wrong-way vehicles, this flow also passes information about detected unequipped wrong-way vehicles.

Solution Description
This solution is used within the U.S.. It combines standards associated with US: SAE Safety Awareness Messages with those for V-X: WAVE WSMP. The US: SAE Safety Awareness Messages standards include upper-layer standards required to implement V2V safety situation awareness information flows. The V-X: WAVE WSMP standards include lower-layer standards that support connectionless, near constant, ultra-low latency vehicle-to-any communications within ~300m using the WAVE Short Messaging Protocol (WSMP) over the 5.9GHz spectrum. The broadcast mode is interoperable with M5 FNTP.
