About

Harmonization Task Groups are created under a parent agreement that originated in 2011 between the EC and the US with the goal of supporting “wherever possible, global open standards in order to ensure interoperability of cooperative systems worldwide and to preclude the development and adoption of redundant standards.”

This is a very broad mission that is divided into a number of specific work items. Each work item is defined in a formal work item description document and commitments are received from each of the participants for their engagement. Finally, once agreement on a work item is achieved, work is initiated with a specific Harmonization Task Group Team.
